The Terroir and its vines

By the end of 2011, the Domaine acquired a 27 ares plot in the Beauregard climat, a Premier Cru remarkably well exposed south east and, as its name suggests, a wonderful view on the Santenay village, towards Chassagne.

The fine clay-limestone soil and slightly pebbly stands on a hard oolitic limestone fault, and is perfectly adapted to Chardonnay.

This vine was planted in 1993, with a density of 10.000 vines per hectare.

The 2012 Vintage

First vintage harvested by the Domaine in Santenay, 2012 was characterized by a cold, wet spring resulting in some flower abortion and uneven grape size, and fewer and smaller bunches. Three hail storms in July and August  did not damage the woods but significantly reduced the harvest.

Good weather in September enabled us to pick well-ripened grapes on 24 September . The yield was 17 hectolitres per hectare.

The wine was fermented and aged in oak barrels, half of which were new.

450 bottles and 50 magnums were produced out of this wine.

Recommendations: this wine will be available mid 2014
